Fire Alarm Service Technician

Duties:

Summary:  Perform programming and commissioning of new commercial systems, and troubleshoot / repair / inspect existing systems in our local service areas.

  • Travel to customer sites to install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and / or perform preventative maintenance on customer's fire alarm systems. Manufacturers include but are not limited to: Siemens, Silent Knight, VESDA, Simplex, Notifier, etc.
  • Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, end users and other employees of the organization as required.
  • Is directly responsible for company assets, including a service vehicle, parts inventory, tools, computer, smart phone and test equipment.
  • Completes timely reporting of all activities including service reports, expense reports, quality alerts and maintenance reports to the company.
  • Completes compliance and job specific training, including NICET Certification within the two years of employment.
  • Able to work in a constant state of awareness and in a safe manner.
  • In-person attendance required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent with 1-2 years' customer service experience in the field
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet and modern computer use.
  • Basic mechanical/electrical/electronics aptitude, with ability to read/utilize a multi-meter, use basic industry technician tools, & hand power tools.
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
  • Must have a valid driver's license, and a safe driving record with minimal traffic violations.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to drive a company vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics and 1 year of field service experience
  • Familiarity with Sedona software.
  • The use of electronic test equipment and reading schematics.
